FORTIGEL® B: How is our Hydrolysed Bovine Collagen sourced?
GELITA® produces FORTIGEL® B from high-quality bovine skin responsibly sourced from the meat industry. Each batch undergoes a carefully controlled process to ensure safety, quality, and respect for animals. The skin is cleaned and enzymatically hydrolysed under precise conditions optimising factors like temperature, pH, time, and enzyme type to break collagen down into highly bioactive peptides that are easily absorbed by the body.
The resulting collagen peptides are then heat-treated, filtered, and dried, with full traceability from raw material to finished product. GELITA’s innovative approach includes recycling natural byproducts from production to nourish the soil, reduce waste, and create an eco-friendly product you can trust. This meticulous process yields clinically proven, sustainable collagen peptides that deliver optimal bioactivity, absorption, and performance.

Converting Sustainable Raw Material Into Clinically Backed Bovine Peptides
Once the bovine hides have been received, they are washed, chopped and treated with alkaline solution to remove non-collagenous proteins. Shortly after, they are treated with an acid solution to further clean and prepare the collagen matrix before extraction. After boiling, temperatures are used to extract the collagen protein, demineralisation occurs to remove contaminants, and finally, filtration, drying and blending.
